Keep Serving in 2012 Christmas season was a wonderful season of sharing and serving. The congregation gave abundantly to the Salvation Army Tree, the Batavia Food Pantry and the Batavia Clothes Closet. The congregation served, cooked food, and visited with the residents of Hesed House, Lazarus House and the St. Charles Illinois Youth Correctional Center. In fact the cookies baked for the IYC visit totally filled my SUV! The visiting team loved sharing the cookies with the young men after singing and joining in fellowship. A special thanks to the Daisy troop that baked so many delicious cookies that there were enough to share with the IYC staff. Let’s continue to live in the spirit of Christmas EVERYDAY! Plan ahead for the March 31st servant day at Hesed House and realize that we serve Lazarus House on the fourth Tuesday of each month. Keep dropping off food for the Food Pantry and clothes for the Clothes Closet. Check out the tutoring opportunities at Batavia Apartments, Fox Valley Literacy Tutors or the IYC tutoring. If your small group is searching for a servant opportunity just ask. Matthew 19:21 (NIV) Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” Happy New Year, Susan Morrison, Missions and Society
